A simile for Nature

"If I had to write a script and make the environment my main character", I thought, "What would I liken the environment to?... A child?

A young, tender, and fragile child?"

No, this would not qualify.

"Do I say a mother? A guardian? Or a fortress that shields me from the forces beyond?"

Yes, but still not enough, so I pondered on.

"What if I imagine her to be some great and all-powerful system? One that, despite my choices to affect it, lives beyond me and outlasts time itself?"

Well, all these held an element of truth for me but which one appeared more evident today?🤔

My thoughts swerved.

I looked and saw waste indexes rise to threaten the quality of our lives, environmental refugees assume new homes with roofs as broken as their will, and hunger becomes well-served on the same tables where the richest of nature's resources are based.

I now began to infer that we might have trampled on more than we can chew and that this mother, guardian, or child of ours is in need of some attention.

So if she were a mother to me, then she would need some support and love.

If she were a child, just a warm embrace would not do. So I'd need to create spaces for playtime and a lot of love too!❤️

And what if I lived in a complex system, one which is self-sustaining and survived by itself, and wouldn't need my little hands to make its turn each day but yet decides the turn my future would take? An all-powerful and intricate makeup happening in the event of life, just like me!

If this was the case, I still would neither be indifferent nor rebellious to such might and wonder of a design!✨

As I contemplate, I realize this journey might never end, so I just made the choice to stop these thoughts along their tracks and begin to show some more care for the place and space I live for now.

What a lovely future I can prepare with this! ❤️

Yours with Mother Nature☘️
